I was thinking about the toilet seat brake activated air brake/spoiler last night and I think I have a good idea.
The simplest way would be to have a direct cable-linkage system connected to the brake pedal itself, but this is a safety issues in the event the spoiler system jams and prevents the brake pedal from moving.
So the next idea would be to use a servo or some other electric motor and use a trigger system with our brake pedal. But this would be complicated and we'd have to account for how much a setup like this would cost against our $500 budget.
So then I had this great idea! Let's use some large vacuum diaphragms!!!! Think about it, this is the perfect solution: When you need to brake, you shut the throttle which maximizes the intake manifold vacuum! I bet if we ran 2 or even 4 diaphragms we could power 2 toilet seat air brakes without any trouble, and vacuum diaphragms are a dime-a-dozen at the wrecking yard :_order:
Here are some examples on YouTube of an air brake spoiler:

Insted of vacuum diaphrams, use pop up headlight actuators. We have a few sitting around here.
ahhhhhh that is a great idea! Those actuators are pretty powerful, right? The good thing is that the car came with them, so it's no cost at all!
Hey, I didn't notice this earlier (I posted in a hurry), but the 2nd video posted above (yellow car) has a split spoiler that is used also to help with cornering. We could apply this concept to our dual toilet seat idea also.
Differentiating spoiler!! SAWEET!!

/me like this
I want to build a prototype for the LeMons car and a final version for my own car. I think it would be awesome to have an active spoiler on my own car :yesnod:
Two toilet seats opening separately in turning, and simultanious on braking?
Yes Sir!
We can hook up an accelerometer to my BASIC Stamp microprocessor and program it accordingly.
I'd like to build a first basic prototype for the March event which is just an air brake only, not a turning spoiler.
Once we prove the concept works and can make it an entire weekend, we'll try the split seat idea
