Let's do it!! / Re: Impact racing safety gear

Helmet requirement is full face SA,  Snell SA2000 or better. FIA 8860-2000 is acceptable.
Fire retardant clothing, SFI 3.2/A, or FIA 8856-2000. Nomex panties, stockings, and bodice recommended.
Synthetics prohibited. Cotton is ok but they still prefer nomex. Commando??
Lemons rules 3.4 for helmet, 3.7 for clothing

Brakes / Re: Brakes
March 27, 2010, 11:05:48 AM
Okay, now we have an MR2. Reduce braking efficiency in the front, increase the rear. '85-'86 front brakes. This allows the vented discs to be retained while reducing the front braking. They were slightly smaller. Then do Mikes trick, put front brakes on the rear. only problem is the loss of the E-brake.  Another way to tune the brakes is by using different pad materials. Organics have less friction than metallic or ceramic. Just need the right combination.

I was the way to go, taking a dead and broken body, piecing it together with parts from other bodies. But the idea of stitching it together with bailing wire still fits though. Big bolts on the "B" pillars. Of course a pale (rotten flesh) green color. But who gets to wear the hump? Igor,  walk this way.

Sooooo, not even in the ballpark? We can maybe get the 2 down to 1800-1900 pounds with the added weight of the necessary safety gear. The 4AGE will put out 120hp without all the smog garbage. Probably get another 20hp with mild tuning. if you can get away with a little more, you can look at 130-150hp. The car already has urethane bushings and swaybars. We need to see about springs and dampers. Mikey can machine roll center blocks to pretty much any thickness. We are still stuck with struts, but there is a lot you can do there....... if you have the tooling and know how.

Clarify rule #4.7;  If I'm reading it right, what we can sell from the car can be used to prep the car. Buy a car for $500, sell parts for $800, build a $1300 car?
Rule #4.2.1; Windscreen I'm good with Lexan, but what is Willows spec on that?

How close to an Elise do you think we can make an MR2? We are going to be removing a B-load of weight.

Now we have the MR2! Since we have to assemble the thing, we can put it together all sloppy like.

Who has MR2 parts?? Any leftovers Bryan? I have a set of sway bars, I think Sway Away manufactured them. I also have urethane bushings. Engine mods still stand available. Mikey, we need to consider the brake mods now. I have all the suspension parts from the red MR2 I junked.

MR2, definately! But the FX would still be a lot of fun. We have a $300 window for parts now. Let's see what we can get for the extra parts on ebay. Now we need to post on this under the Bill's FX16 area.
