Wow! An MR2 that's heavier in the front.

Came across something rather interesting today. Imagine a camshaft that has indefinate adjustability in it's duration!! A coaxial helical camshaft! Not that it would work in the limited space of a 4AGE head, but just the idea is awesome! helicalcamshaft.com Check it out!

Ordered the BC coilovers today!!

The P.O.S. is now a white 1987 FX16 GTS. Arrived so far are the Whiteline sway bars and urethane bushings. In the process of installing them currently. Awaiting news on availability and price of coilovers, maybe BG from Great Britain, we'll see. Fall back on the Ground Control if I have to. Sorry Mike, no camera, no pics.

Wonder how the Speed 3 would do. Update the suspension a bit, it's pretty good, but not really competition worthy. With the mods allowed, intake, exhaust, tuning, 300-320 whp is an easy do with this crazy car. Haven't put it on the rollers yet, but the general increase from the stock 263 hp 280 tq(flywheel) is a solid 280 hp 295 tq with just the Mazdaspeed/Injen CAI-1 intake.  Add the COBB exhaust goodies and turbo inlet pipe, download their general fuel/ign map and without even seeing a dyno 300 hp and 305 tq can be an easy reality. All that's neede in the mix is some serious track time!

As far as my FX16 as a runner here? I have finally ordered sway bars and urethane bushings from Whiteline, Aussie company, and am looking for some struts that will cross-over to mine. The trans I want is the AE111 6-speed with LSD. My engine will have an elevated comp ratio and 264 cams TB and headers. I have an ECU that's been overclocked for an 8800 rpm limiter and the HKS cam card says the cams make power to 8300rpm. Might even go with a JDM MAP ECU, overclocked as well. I can't use a piggyback so p[robably stay with the USDM AFM ECU set-up. MIght be able to get 130 whp! Mike forget to mention thae rules on tire size for FF cars, unlimited!

Hey Bryan! How's thing been? Sad news for Bryan in this particular series, no pros. As for the S/C set up, I don't see anything about pulley sizes. Throttle body might sneak by if you got your buddy to hog one out, like he did for the N/A TB in my black AE82.  On the strut towers, bolt in a set of camber plates, and get a set of coil overs, at least ground control sleeves and springs. The 6-speed trans is a bit gray, but........ it has STOCK gears, it is OEM (technically, AE111) Maybe not for YOUR model year, OEM nonetheless. I think it should fly. As far as getting discouraged, gotta have fun, and learn the ins and outs before getting competeitive. I know I'd run my AE82 as it sits just to get out there!! I'd run my Tacoma if I still had it. Be nice going balls out without worrying about the popo.

CA sb 1224 is a bill to exempt cras pre 1981. Let's see what happens with this.

I heard about this and got all kinds of excited! I could run my FX16, after I get the suspension done. I thought Big Mike would be able to run his
S/C AW11, but after reading the rules I have doughts he can run without adding a cage. Mikey listed the classes, but missed the beginner class labeled 'enthusiast" Basically a complete, stock car with few mods allowed.  I think Mike's MR2 needs to be N/A as it was not available S/C. Possibly if it was available as S/C in Japan in 1987. Need clarification on that rule. I'm going to try to at least go observe on saturday.

Try having the thing in your barn, not knowing if you are going to actually finish the project. I look at it EVERY day and can't make up my ind what to do. But I still have hopes to finish it. Rings?

What the? Heyy, it's the 22'nd and the biggest problem is the ground is wet. No aliens, no asteroid, the earth didn't explode and my compass is still pointing in the same direction. What a let-down. Maybe we'll blow ourselves up next week!
