Projects and Build-Ups / Re: Big-K's RX-7 Aspiration

I miss my '88 RX-7.  What an awesome car it was.  Soooo comfortable.

The NA isn't fast but it's reliable and entertaining anyway.  The burbles and pops of the 13B with cat delete give it a lot of character.

Still want to get an FD someday...

Idunno, I think there's a high probability the occupant(s) broke some legs.  The footbox is way shorter than it used to be.  Also, no airbag in a head-on like that can't be good.  Steering wheel is bent - from arms or the driver's head?  Hope he was wearing a helmet...

Wonder what happened.  Concrete and bricks will generally win a battle against an oversize go-kart... :)

Bryan, what is the lowest safe front tire pressure you've ran? 27 psi? 26 psi?
Hmm, I can't remember that far back... :)  I think I usually had a 2psi difference front to rear, fronts were anywhere from 28-32 psi IIRC.

Some kind of American V8 I presume?

Sounds intriguing, but I wonder if 267mph is a bit optimistic.

16s can look pretty good if the car is lowered and the offset is right.  I think my favorite look for the MK1 right now is still low offset 15s with 240Z flares.

A tall 16" tire might look funny up front though.  Dunno.

That's crazysauce.  Are you running a C52 of some sort?  IIRC the E51 has longer gearing so it should give >60mph in 2nd gear with stock-diameter rear tires.  The C52 tops out right at 60mph at the normal 7600rpm limiter.

I'm not sure what the difference is.  They look the same.  Maybe different web sites don't always call it by the same name?

Here are a couple other interesting Rota 6-spokes I found while looking for Grid differences.

Well I'll be a son of a gun.  If I had known that little trick, I might have made it home from Oregon on my original alternator instead of having to jerry-rig some Camry alternator to fit.

IIRC the GZE has an external voltage regulator where the GE has it inside the alternator.  Or is it vice versa?

Sow how did you fix your charging issue Mike?

Suspension / Re: Stock springs

I have no clue here... :)  Stock springs are no longer stock when they're cut and have spring perches moved around!

All I know is the car doesn't have a lot of compresssion travel when lowered, and that is why some people run modified shock lengths.  But maybe that's where you're going with the spring perch modification.  That stuff goes over my head for some reason.
