Hey guys, sorry, I have been real busy with school and the car. Here goes:
MRDeuce:
Is that intake carbon fiber?
No, it is a AE92 4A-GE Intake Manifold painted black.
What are you going to do about emmissions?
The engine will burn pretty close to that of the factory engine (not under high boost), but it will
fail visiual. Funny how that works...
I know that thing isn't going to run on 91 octane...
Well, it ran on 92oct before, but this time I expect to be able to use 89 oct when not racing. It will
be better this time.
When can I come down and see it in person?
I am going to be driving around cali to meet friends and to break in the engine, so maybe I can stop by
and we can get some taco bell or something..
Did you beef the crank any?
No, just balanced.
cryo treat?
Pistons and Rods only.
block?
Nothing. The factory bottom end is good for just over 300 hp, and I have upgraded pistons.
quickie:
Do you think you will go with a bigger crank pulley?
Well, my pulley is 5mm smaller than the Nevo and Cusco.. I could go back up to 170mm(Cusco/Nevo) which
I was using before, but I don't want to push this larger SC as fast.
Also how much boost do you think you will get with this setup Alone?
Ok, We have proof of the original SC14 owner who was using an American 4A-GZE with the 125mm SC clutch
pulley and a HKS 155mm crank pulley. With this setup, he got 14 psi cold boost. With my old 120mm
(jap-clutch) x 170mm (custom cusco) I was reading 12.5 psi cold boost. Now, I am 120x165. I want to say
that I will get 15-16 psi cold boost just to protect myself. I am pretty sure I will get more, like
17-18psi, but I am going to state 15-16 psi for now until I can prove otherwise.
toytech:
So I notice the dipstick is in the right place, did you swap the back cover off of an sc-12?
Yes Sir.
Jared:
can you provide a litel more info on whart you did with the clutch to the SC 14 ??
It took me a while to figure out what to do, but I got it. I made an inner sleave that rests against a
nut which turns with the shaft. The other end then rests against the clutch disk. So when you tighten
the disk down, it just pushes against this sleave. I made the sleave just a bit to short so I can
adjust the clearances with spacers, which I did.
Are you saying you put the SC12 clutch on the SC 14 ??
Yes. The SC14 shaft is longer than the SC12, so when mounted, the clutch disk was sticking wwaayy to
far out for the magnet to ever pull it in. Now it is super super close. I think closer than stock.
Regards,
BigMike
