Is your car running now? you need to come down to so cal and meet me and all the other mr2sc and turbos! If you cant make it up that far we could meet up somewhere in between! Have you thought of making a video of your setup explaining what you did and what the results are and ____ like that?

1/4 mile

BigMike,

what was your best time in the 1/4 before your rebuild and what were your mods then?

Mike,

I was having a look at the SC long motor in my rear cut yesterday, looking at clearences etc. How much space have you got between your driveshaft and Supercharger at full compression?

Hey Mike....

What are you doing for fuel, other than the Supra pump? From experience, I don't think the stock ecu has the maps for 15-16psi... The stock injectors will probably work if you use some type of a boost adjusted regulator, but I would go with an aftermarket ECU and larger injectors to be safe.

I just moved from Pleasanton to Modesto, so maybe we can meet up when you get everything finished. It would be fun to watch you out at the street races here. You could probably even make a buck or 2 if you wanted.

If Modesto is a central location for some of the group, I could have a BBQ or something. I think I'm about 90 miles or less from Fresno. 60 from the East bay and 75 from Sacramento.... Pretty much in the middle.

Hey Matt, welcome to the forum. You should head to the next autocross in Atwater, Oct 21st. Mike is *supposed* to be there (right Mike!?), as well as a few MR2s.

FYI, Atwater should be about 20 minutes south of you. Short drive.

I don't mind driving to modesto now that I am gainfully employed...

Modesto is like an hour from east bay, depending on traffic could be more/less.

Why don't we make it a mini meet? You know, show off HIPSI...

I just found this KICK ASS road down the street from my house. It's cool because you go from town, to some really windy road, and about 10 miles later it's town again. But nothing in between. Road is sick man. I can get my truck up to about 45 on this road, but that takes all of what little skills I have.

quickie:

No, not running yet. I am sick right now I have a cold, and I didn't have energy to work last night which really hurts my car since I only have Tuesday and Thursday nights available for working on the car.

oasis:

1/4: 14.01 secs @ 104 mph
0-60: 5.78 secs

Jap spec 4A-GZE, Flowmaster 2.5", 2.25" cat, TRD SC Header 4-2-1, Webcams #294, Cusco sized crank pulley running 12psi cold(13.5 hot), NGK BCP7EV plugs gaped @ 0.048", C52 NA transaxle, TODA Chromolly flywheel, TRD Kevlar clutch, 16" wheels, Yokohama A520s, and that's about it.

Ben:

I noticed that when I was putting the engine in and out getting it to fit. All I can say is that my fingers are crossed. If it just barley hits, like at 95% compression or something, then would be more
interested in making a small bump stop rather rebracketing the whole dang thing.

93FD:

I am pretty sure my injectors are ok for more power then I will be making, and I already have plans on getting my ECU reprogrammed. I have splitsecond's air/fuel ratio meter, so I will watch it once I get it broken in and start hammering it.

Regards,
BigMike

I have the same ngk sparkplugs but i gaped mine at 0.040 instead of the factory spec 0.044. Why did you gap them that much bigger? NGk told me that i could gap them alittle smaller because of my nevo pulley upgrade. Please explain.

If I were to guess, he may have a higher energy ignition system, or the J-spec DLI ignition...

higher energy=more spark=more gap=hotter spark covering more area=more power

I could be wrong, please correct if I am.

Actually, I have no reason.

When I got them, they were @ 0.038". I drove them around enough so that I could get a feel for them (eg. around the block ). I then gapped them to 0.040" and drove around. I couldn't tell a difference. So I went 42, 44, and then 0.048", still I could not tell a difference, and then I gave up and left it that way.

Why should you go smaller? I'm pretty sure the spark energy would be increased before it would be able to jump a longer gap. So more energy = more heat.

On the other hand, if you were using a heat index #8 plug, factory spec, then gapping it smaller would enable you to use that plug without it burning up since it would not burn as hot. I was using a heat #7 plug. I am going to re-use the plugs since they only have about 5k on them, and if I burn one up, then I will have to go down to a #6 plug. Also, I am using Nology Hotcore wires which will make a much much hotter spark.

Regards,
BigMike

nology

yes, i have nology wires as well. They work great dont they? The stock heat range for the sc mr2 is a 6. The bcp7ev is the step up colder plug. If you go back down to a 6 you will more than likely detonate. Does this make sense to you? ALso whats up whith your video? I want to see a presentation of your setup and i will pay for the shipping. Ill make you a deal. I will send you a video of my 2 sc mr2s and you send me yours!

Not sure abou tthe heat ranges, BUT, I do know that it takes a certain voltage to jump a gap with a certain distance. Such as the principal in air resistors. I thought the governing principal in plugs(aside from heat ranges) was area of spark. Hasn't anyone written a book or made some kind of device that puts all this information directly into our brains?

Mike

When are you coming up? Today is my last day off for the next 4 weeks so if you want to do something today I'm up for it...
