Here is the story on the FX16:
We will buy it from his daughter-in-law for $200.
We'll flatten the tires and put it out in ditch bank, dump some oil all over the engine and take some pictures of it all nasty and ugly, like it's been there for a couple of years, etcetera...
Then we'll all have the same story that when we got the car home and pulled the valve covers, it had some aftermarket cams and when we pulled the engine out it had a light weight flywheel already.
I have a 9lb flywheel, cams, springs, big throttle body, headers, small port head and manifold. I would prefer using the small journal crankshaft, but I have a set of con-rods from a silvertop 20v. I might consider using my wiseco pistons too. Can we make a 140-150 hp engine?? Looking on e-bay, I found an OBX(Pronounced china cheep) LSD. Helical gear torque sensing type. Trying to get an idea of what torque split it has. About $400 shipped.
With the exception of the LSD, these are items I'm considering donating to the cause.

REDNECK RAMPAGE
Make the thing look like it's held together with bailing wire and duct tape. With loose pieces of tape flying around like streamers. Drill series of 1/16" holes to pull wire through to make it look like the car is stitched together with wire.
Paint a big bright yellow YEE HAW on the sides and hood of the car.
Car #246
Might be able to get monetary assistance somewhere down the road from the union hall. Plumbers local #246.
MARLIN CRAWLER
Paint car like a tortoise............ With a bright yellow YEE HAW on the hood and sides of the car. Dragging a set of large stuffed rabbits (hares) feet under the car.
Marlin Crawler Lemon Racer would be pretty cool ;D
Regarding 140-150 HP, I plan on running a MicroSquirt (http://www.microsquirt.info) stand-alone ECU that retains all factory sensors....I know you guys are familiar with MegaSquirt, well this is the smaller version which is so small we can fit it into the stock 4A-GE Toyota ECU housing:
Look how small it is!
I can easily stash that into this, using all factory Toyota plugs and wiring:

And just yesterday I stopped by Precision Auto Customs, right down the street from Marlin Crawler, owned by my very good friend Justin who was trained by Shelby and has his own Dyno Jet, and he has lots of experience with Mega and MicroSquirt and has all the software to do all the dyno tuning.
I am immediately going to do this with my 4A-GZE for my MR2 so everything will look stock and yet it will be fully dyno-tuned, so we could do this for the FX16 as well. I really doubt the judges have time to open up ECU boxes, and even if they did we could mount it upside down or put Toyota stickers on it, or put security paint on the screws so it looks like it has never been opened, whatever.
Then we could get it tuned on the dyno. We can set the rev limit, the idle speed, anything. So for the brick-throttle test we could limit the rpm to 7,400 or so (I'm sure they'll be looking at the tach) and for the race we can set it to 8,000 rpm.
Whatta ya think?
Regarding the MicroSquirt, I have created a thread called Engine Management (http://bigmike.marlincrawler.com/forum/index.php?topic=11.0) to continue the discussion there.
Sounds good! how much for dyno time? What tuning parameters are possible with miccrosquirt?
with 264* cams, and all the other mods, microsquirt tning could get us between 150- 160 hp
Ideas on combatting understeer. Use lower profile tire with stiffer sidewalls. Do the old school drifter trick on the swaybars, double 'em up. Stiffer springs, not too stiff though, from an MR2 or Celica or Camry or............ Just needs to fit the spring perches. We can trim for ride height. Need to research shocks. Need to fit in stock tubes, maybe a little shorter stroke. I would like to use KYB gas-adjust or a non-adjustable Tokiko. Any one know where to get the specs on shock bodies??
Hmmmm........... I just tripped over an MR2 fuel tank. I wonder if it will fit in the FX's tunnel!? Any limit on the fuel capacity of the car?? 25 gallons maybe?
Fuel is available at the track. 91, and 100 unleaded, and 110 leaded! 100 octane can easily support 11.5-1 compression! We don't have to run a cat, soooo, compression is open. We just need to take out a second on our houses to fuel the car. We can also tine more aggressively than we thought before. Microsquirt is lookin' better and better!
Cleanig out the garage, found a 5AGE crankshaft. Hmmmmm.
You are crazy
Who has MR2 parts?? Any leftovers Bryan? I have a set of sway bars, I think Sway Away manufactured them. I also have urethane bushings. Engine mods still stand available. Mikey, we need to consider the brake mods now. I have all the suspension parts from the red MR2 I junked.
Do you have the rear brakes? (why are we posting this in the FX16 thread?)
I have a few leftover MR2 parts... off the top of my head:
- Entire passenger door (power door - with mirror broken off)
- E51 trans (no axles)
- Wing and side skirts
- Stock front sway bar
- Stock steering wheel
- Triangle wheels with race tires mounted
There may be more, if I dig around. Not likely to be any performance goodies still here.

Anybody hear the term 'twinky' as referred to the twin cam 4a engine?
I have not but that is a great way to describe the engine in the Little Deuce Poupé!
Sorry, misstated that(been doing that a lot), the FX16 with a twin cam is referred to as a twinkie. That's why I posted it here. But yeah, it is a good nickname for the 4AGE. Maybe we can start a trend!
We can delete this thread.
Maybe we need it for next year?
Maybe so.
Thought I would post a pic of this car. Here it is behind my MR2
Perfect shot! right next to the recycling bin! Recycle it into a LeMons car!
Doing an AWD FX-16, hmmm. I found the trans IS an E series trans, so might handle a GZE! I'm getting my interest sparked again!
Are you working yet?
Have you seen this? Diesel 6-speed: http://www.mr2.com/forums/mk-2-mr2-sw20/Toyota-MR2-20347-some-info-toyota-s-new-6-speed-ea-series-transmissions.html

Diesel deuce?? Maybe with Audi diesel tech!
Eh, no. Not working yet. Not starving yet, but getting stressed to the MAX!
Ummmm I think the first of the year has passed...... WTH??
It's a conspiracy I tell ya! They're out ot get ME!
