$58 for registration, $38 for custom plate, and another $20 or so in road taxes and "heavy weight" fees.

Uh, heavy weight? The max gross weight on you truck is only around 5,000lbs isn't it?

Let me check...... ok back, it's 4550 pounds.

The truck is 28 years old with a OBD-II EFI engine. I should be smog exempt for all it's accomplished in cleaning up the air :D

hahaha it probably is!!! It weighs 3650 lbs on the scale and has a gross vehicle weight rating of 4550.

That would be crazy if the Speed3 was designed to carry more than a 4WD truck LOL

Max weight on the Speed 3 is 4114lbs.
You'll like this, the CURB weight of a 2010 Lincoln Town Car is 4518lbs.
Is the heavy vehicle classification for trucks only? What are the rules governing this?
