Radio Shack $9 Thermometer with external probe

qtr. mile run
Typical after a qtr. mile run in a warm evening.
Engine idling on a cool day

With higher boost comes hotter intake temps. What better way to monitor them, then with a cheap $9 thermometer from your local Radio Shack electronics store??

Probe around here for a bit

With the probe inserted RIGHT at the intake manifold, underneath the hose as shown above, I observe temps going into the manifold ±5 degrees F of that in my cabin with my windows rolled down. Under a qtr. mile sprint, I observe temps going into the manifold +20 ~ +30 degrees F of that in my cabin with my windows rolled up.

It is very neat to come out of college and see that my cabin is at 120 degrees F from sitting in the sun all day!!
