Well, I better be just instead of frank.

They charged me $375US for the header complete with heat treatment. I think the treatment was for $60US, so just the header would have been $315US or so. I think that is an Excellent price since the TuRD SC header was $295. HOWEVER, they will NO LONGER sell the header for this cost! This is why I listed above to call them. They really wanted me to know how much work they did (especially since they did this for me in about 2 wks actual work time because they had to go to a race the next week) so they really worked their asses off for me, and they feel that their price for custom headers is no longer sufficient for the amount of man hours of hand making everything and setting it all up by hand.

Here is the punch line: They told me that if I tell others what I was charged for, that the price they will get charged (basically any header built after mine) will be going up. I don't know how much, that's why I said to call them.

also seems to me the Primaries are too short but being under oost i guess it doesent matter

Really? I think that since it is forced induction, bottom end will not be affected. But of course top end will have a good exhaust scavenging flow.

I have only bought 1 thing from TED and they seemed evasive i would ask 3 or 4 questions and they would give 1 answer

I called them up quite a bit and ordered alot from them. They were very professional with me and treated me like I was the only customer they had. I am very happy with them and I will be buying from them again.

I guess you have DFI or DLI ignition?

Yes, Direct Fire Ignition (Distrubitor Less Ignition)

Nology T.R.EX 3" Variable Backpressure System ?

T.R.EX Shotgun is a device that regulates backpressure. I'll let you all know how it works. ps. I bought it for alot less than advertised on their webpage.

The only reason I have the little filter their is to prevent oil fumes and hot air and hot gasses from going into my intake and combustion. I want a good mixture of gas and oxygen. Mainly, only hot steam comes out from it. I never saw any oil coming out, but I think eventually oil would condensate from the fumes into the filter and then drip everywhere, so as long as I clean it once a month or so I should be alright.

BTW, here is a picture of the TREX:

I should move to oshawa and try to get a job with them. That header is exactly what I love to do!

Guys, these pictures don't do the work justice. The engine is a work of art. The blue in real life is a darker, bluer hue. Not so teal.

Mike, you better keep it clean!

Big Mike...

A few questions...it looks like you have taken off the clutch part of the SC. I see some screws coming out of the pulley...are you ditching the clutch?

Also, since you have an SC14, are you willing to sell your sc12? As you may of seen on my site, I "rebuilt" my SC, but I have a bad feeling its not going to make it. I want to buy another for when it does go.

email if possible. apichon@uiuc.edu

Well, I wasn't going to say this either, but I have been working off and on on a jig that holds the gears in line with the factory holes at 0 degrees on my turn table which has 1 degree incriments. I can then move forward or backward any amount, excately as the TRuD Gears. I then want to raid all the wrecking yards here for Corollas and MR2s and snag the cam gears and sell them for cheaper than the TRuD gears.

But that is another project.. heh heh

You know, at first my friend Sir Duce believed that the American cam gears were about 1-2 degrees off from the Japanese gears. But I think they are the same. Ohh what fun..

BigMike

I talked to a Guy at a Muffler shop and he showed me a stailess Merge collector that was going to go on a GT-5 Race car

$700 just for the collector wow

No, although I could, but I like to race the slower hondas with the clutch switched off just to compare what my car used to be.

What I am doing was making two sleeves (or inserts). The splined shaft on the SC14 is longer than that of the SC12 so I had to modify my clutch pulley to work with the SC14.

Here are some pictures:

Well, I have had interest from two guys here locally and one of them will most likely get it. Sorry!

Wow! They really did bend their backs for me.. Wow. I know they are going to get alot of advertising from me, no questions about it.

I don't know anything about the collector, but you sure do. Thanks for the information!

700$ that's crazy!

Well, any corner that was not rounded and smoothed, and even not matching the gasket or the other side of the port, was ground out all the way possible and smoothened round to encourage free flowing everything. The oil routes I ground and made 3 holes larger and rounded 2 corners to meet the gaskets/ports. Just simple things that go along way and make a huge difference years down the road. I also added spacers to up the pressure needed to activate the blow by spring, which in tern ups the pressure. I fixed a couple of corners that were restrictive where water passes also.

I later learned from Stephen Gunter that the water lines on the exhaust side can be drilled out larger to encourage water passage over the exhaust ports. To bad I already had the head on. Well, my next head will for surely get that done to it.

In other words, I spent a ____ load of time doing little silly things.

Regards,
BigMike

wow!

I knew you had something up your sleeve. Great work! You must of spent a fortune on this project. Cant wait to hear how fast it will be in the quarter mile. Be sure to let us know? Do you have any guestimates? Also about the sc 14. Did you custumize the brackets or did you use the same ones ? Or how did you go about fitting it on?

It actually hasn't cost me much. I have just over $2k so far in all of this..
Built all the brackets myself. For the SC, I actually went through 3 different design changes. I started using Aluminum but the piece I was using was so hard to machine, so I went with steel. The top bracket only weighs 4 lbs!

Brackets take up the most amount of time to build. They suck, but can really turn out to be nice. And believe this, when I finished welding it and bolted it up tight, the damn thing was perfectly aligned! What a lucky bastard I was with that top bracket!

BigMike

Mike - A friend of mine does custom tow-hitches, it looks like your SC mount would be right up his alley

Now you've got me thinking about doing much the same thing to mine if I ever get serious about building it, I might use a custom short runner manifold though.
