Hello guys,

I've been talking briefly about our team to my good friend and great customer to Marlin Crawler, Thaddeous from Santa Cruz.
So I'd like to welcome, Wermz to the forum and to our LeMons group!!

I realize Wermz lives a bit far away, but I believe he is a great driver and he is more than willing to drive for our team if we cannot find any replacements soon. Of course he is more than welcomed to come over to the Fresno area for a work day on our race car too

Wermy, please post up a bit about your self, your experience in autocrossing, what cars you have owned, et cetera if you don't mind

Compared to Eddie, this stuff seems pleasant.

Mid-April's Detroit/Chicago enduro at Gingerman featured sub-freezing evenings and racing in snow. It'll be hard to make warm, sunny July's Gingerman outing that nasty, but we think we can do it: We're bringing in Car and Driver editor-in-chief Eddie Alterman as our captain-grilling, cheater-baiting, garb-mocking Special BS Judge.
You already know how mean Judge Jonny is, and he's just a senior editor. Alterman's an editor-in-chief. Editors-in-chief know how to make PR peoples' heads explode, just like in Scanners. (To keep the pain level constant, future races may include locust plagues, salmonella taint, and Def Leppard tribute bands.)

Hey guys,

I have a friend who just doesn't understand why I think drifting is cool. He think it is slower than normal driving and that the only reason why imports drift is because they don't have the torque to do burnouts in a straight line, so they have to do it when traction is lower in a corner.

My explanation is that there is a place for both grip and drift racing. However, I have to believe that grip is better than drift or else we'd see F1 cars drifting all over the place. But, on the flip side, I heard that when my hero Keiichi Tsuchiya began drifting back in the day, it was such an unorthodox style that people mocked him but yet he began winning and did really really well drift racing.

So what's your opinion on it? Again, I told my friend that it's all about the type of race. NASCARs would be slower if they tried drifting those loooong corners and people wouldn't be able to do gymkhana without drifting.

LeMons South Spring (at Carolina Motorsports Park on 21-22 May) kicks off again with a racecar parade through downtown Camden on Friday the 20th, followed by tech inspection, beer, rock bands, more beer, street food, and beer-soaked BS judging in the Camden Town Square, all to a background of horrified/bemused locals*.

I am wondering if you have ever seen this site? http://zombiehunters.org A friend of mine showed me it and it's really cool.

Here is their mission:

Zombie Squad's mission is to educate the public about the importance of personal preparedness and self reliance, to increase its readiness to respond to a number of disasters such as Earthquakes, Floods or Zombie Outbreaks.

So the name is odd but the concept is sound: If you can survive an onslaught of zombies, then you can probably survive nearly any natural disaster.

There are a lot of great things to check out in their ZombieSquadWiki and of course their forum.

When building your racecar, do you avoid reading the LeMons Rulebook or FAQs 'cause of all the damn words? Don't sweat it: Since illiterates are already welcome in NASCAR, we figure why not in LeMons? Thus our new illustrated free handbook, How Not to Fail LeMons Safety Inspection. Check it out here as a (kinda slow-loading) interactive web doc or in printable PDF form. Your last good excuse for clogging the Tech line has just been removed.

NEW EQUIPMENT IN PYROTECT LeMONS KITS
Here's the bad news: Some prices on LeMons-rate driver gear (the ones in the online LeMons store) have gone up. The good news is, that's because Pyrotect has upgraded a lot of the stuff for us:

1. All "Everything" kits now include lightweight carbon/Kevlar SA2010 helmets and the required-for-2011 fire-resistant socks.
2. The "Marginally Better" kit has become the "Significantly Better" kit, swapping the old multilayer Nomex/Proban suit for a new multilayer all-Nomex suit.
3. Okay, I may or may not have also added a few bucks for the maintenance on my 25th Anniversary Countach. (I mean, have you ever priced out the 10K service on a Quattrovalvole V12? It's ridiculous.)
